How to Mix Career with Life (Especially Family Life)
Some people can’t wait to get to their work. Other people might even call them nerds (or workaholics), and in the real world, they would be said to be successful. However, back in our world that’s not always the case. Many of you (and to be honest some days myself as well) loathe time away from home and family members.
You begrudge those who don’t have to do anything. You wish you could just lounge around the pool the whole day and live off the interest earned from investing the money you have in the bank. The lifestyles of the rich and famous just are not available for everyone in the world. It takes years and years (sometimes two or three lifetimes) just to earn that much money, although if you’re lucky enough, you could actually win the lottery. However looking at betting odds the chances of doing that actually look very small so hold hold your breath whilst waiting for your numbers to be drawn.
If you really want to at least enjoy some of life’s pleasures this year, you need a job.
However, most people don’t really enjoy what they do. They simply go to work in order to exist each day and maybe have a little left over to pay for an annual holiday trip. If we are honest we can’t expect to able to support ourselves if we just drop everything and quit.
You have bills to pay and family responsibilities to worry about, and this can only be done when you have something to sustain you through it. Sadly, not many people are happy with what they do. They simply resign themselves to the situation and continue on working day to day like a dog. If you’ve been guilty of this very fact, you shouldn’t put yourself through this situation.
Change may be something you fear and we all do at times, but this can actually be good for you. If you really want to make your life different, you need to make a list of what works and what doesn’t. While it seems as if you need a list for everything, it is crucial in making you see a bigger picture. It’s easier to make a decision when you see how things are connected together. Jumping into making changes without seeing the knock on effects on another part of your life can be dangerous.
There are also those people who are blessed because they are defined by their work. Their career gives them a sense of fulfillment. You can be like these people if you become more willing to charge of your destiny. Who you want to become is up to you.
Assess things in order to determine which are most important to you right now. Then, set your priorities in order so that you find a balance between work and play. Things can only be considered as play when you like doing them. If you do nothing but work all the time, you won’t become a truly healthy individual. You need to put weight on your personal life as well so that you maintain the social skills you learned growing up.
Make sure that you set the path for the rest of your life. You can only do this if you keep working on doubling your skills. Life is all about growth and improvement. If you do nothing but do the same kind of mindless work, you will find that your achievements will feel pretty empty. Life is more enjoyable when you find the perfect balance. By this time, you ought to know what is best for you. While others can give their advice, you ultimately have to listen to what’s in your heart. Balance your life to make it work for you and you’ll be much happier in the end.
